Master Japanese dancer Fujima Shōgo is returning to Vancouver to perform Yūko-Kai. - a concert of Japanese dance celebrating the life and work of Fujima Yūko He is also offering this workshop in the basics of Japanese classsical dance. Fujima Shōgo last performed in Vancouver in 2012 as part of TomoeArts' Shamisen and Odori in May 2012, and Odori - the world of kabuki dance in 2010. Fujima Shōgo is part of the all-male group Ko-no-Kai (Japanese only) http://www.konokai.com.

Workshop participants will learn sections of one or two short dances and registration is open to new students as well as to those who have studied nihon buyoh in the past.

Maximum 30 participants. Some knowledge of dance, movement or music is preferred but not required. Participants are required to wear comfortable clothing and tabi (Japanese split-toed socks) or white socks. Fans will be provided.
